2. ALASKA!

Drive to Silverthorne. Drive to Denver. Fly to Seattle (SEA). Fly to Juneau (JNU). Fly to Glacier Bay/Gustavus (GST).

This was Travel Fluffy Bunny's first time flying. Well, not really. Like many animals accompanying travelers over the age of 10, this little rabbit hadn't ever made it out of a suitcase while on a plane. In the past she hadn't even know she was flying, although she had wondered why she was experiencing such odd pressure in her ample ears.

On the flight, Fluffy found her size to be quite useful. She could sneak between the seats to the adjacent rows to access greater supplies of peanuts. And of course, she loved looking out the window after take-off to see a world, finally, that seemed appropriately sized to her small stature. But Fluffy was restless. She was eager to reach Alaska, where she could pounce along rocky coastlines with bear cubs and swim shallow creeks with salmon fry (while the threat of bears did not frighten her as it had her cousin, she did hold some concerns regarding the mature salmon, with their Alaskanly gargantuan proportions).

Flying from Juneau to Gustavus on a what was a rare sunny day, Fluffy saw straight through the rich indigo waters to the whales below in Icy Strait. Three, ten...twenty... Once the whales became apparent they could be seen everywhere, speckling the waters of the strait like little submerged boats. That thought started to worry her, and she hoped very much that they were in fact happy, living, breathing whales and not submerged boats, or worse, planes.

The whales dwarfed the wake of passing motorboats thousands of feet below and Fluffy began to realize just how very small she would seem in this massive northern state.
